Our Mission

The Schola Cantorum Stellæ Solæ is an apostolate of lay volunteers dedicated to the study of Gregorian chant, which advocates for the privileged place of Gregorian chant in the Sacred Liturgy.  Members, ranging from those with professional training to those without, share a commitment to study, to practice, and to promote the official music of the Holy Catholic Church.  Upon invitation, the Schola Cantorum Stellæ Solæ offers assistance to parishes seeking to incorporate Gregorian chant in their celebration of the Sacred Liturgy.

“Ecclesia cantum gregorianum agnoscit ut liturgiae romanae proprium: qui ideo in actionibus liturgicis, ceteris paribus, principem locum obtineat.”

”The Church acknowledges Gregorian chant as specially suited to the Roman liturgy: therefore, other things being equal, it should be given pride of place in liturgy.”
